WEA Retired Membership Types

WEA Retired Membership Types

Pre-Retired

Available to any current Active WEA Member who has been employed for at least five years in public education.  Upon retirement, the Pre-Retired membership converts automatically to a Retired Lifetime membership.  Pre-Retired members participate in governance and representation activities through the Local in which they are Active Members. If you are currently an Active (employed) Member of WEA and want to join WEA-Retired, this is the category you should use.

Annual Retired Membership

This membership must be renewed each year.  The membership period is from September 1 through August 31.

Lifetime Retired Membership

Available for individuals no longer employed in public education who were Active WEA Members at the time of retirement.  Purchasing a Life Membership protects you from future dues increases.

Annual Associate Membership

Available to individuals who were previously employed in public education but who were NOT Active WEA Members at the time of retirement (Administrators, members of non-WEA locals, etc.).  This membership must be renewed each year.  The membership period is from September 1 through August 31.  This type of membership has limited governing rights in WEA-Retired.
If you are currently retired but were NOT a WEA member at the time of your retirement, this is a correct category.

Lifetime Associate Membership

Available to individuals who were previously employed in public education but who were NOT Active WEA Members at the time of retirement (Administrators, members of non-WEA locals, etc.). This type of membership has limited governing rights in WEA-Retired.  If you are currently retired, but were NOT a WEA member at the time of your retirement, this is a correct category.

Please note: Enrollment in ANY category of Retired membership does not affect your obligation to pay dues as an Active (employed) member.
