Joint Contract Training
HEA/HSD will be providing joint contract training for all principal and HEA building representatives on Wednesday, Sept. 23, at 4 p.m. ERAC-Board room. Check with your building representative to make sure your building is present for the training. We are planning this training together and we hope to clarify many of the questions that are surfacing. We hope to see you there!

Messages of Solidarity
The public struggles of Pasco, Seattle, Kelso, South Whidbey Island, Shoreline, Arlington and other local associations bring educator concerns to our larger communities and allow parents and other community members to stand in support of educators and students. It's time that public educators, parents and our communities reclaim our public schools. The public is behind us; our parents are behind us, and our state Supreme Court is behind us. This fall has been a positive reminder that there is strength in collective power. HEA members stand in solidarity with all of our local associations standing strong for a fair contract. Highline Education Association has provided a financial donation in support of our union brothers and sisters in Pasco, Seattle and Kelso. They have led the public struggle and decided to take strike actions. Your HEA Representative Council unanimously voted to support all of these local associations.
Check with your HEA Building Reps
Your HEA Building Representatives are working to update member information. Please make sure the Association has the most current information for you. Each HEA Building Rep is asked to hold HEA Building Meetings. Please help them by attending, asking questions and increasing your involvement in our Association! They are volunteering to represent you and build our Association. We all benefit by having a stronger Association.
Teacher Evaluation Information
Look for communication from HSD regarding notification of the location of the Charlotte Danielson Instructional Framework (CDIF) in both paper and electronic formats. It is on the HSD website. All new teachers will receive the spiral CDIF book. There will be print copies available at your school.
New Member Dinner
HEA will host the Annual HEA New Member Dinner at Azteca on Oct. 26. Invitational fliers will be sent to all schools through your HEA Building Representatives. Last year's event was full. If needed, we will host a second event. Stay tuned for more information!

Q: When will the new contract be available?
A: HSD and HEA work together to make sure the language is correct. Following that, HSD sends the contract to print. Paper contracts may be available mid-October. The contract will be posted electronically shortly after the new changes are finalized.
THE HEA/HSD Collective Bargaining Agreement is available on the HEA website. There should also be a print copy in each school. More information may be found here.
