Good Morning Supporter, Election Day is so close! (Be on the lookout for your ballot late next week.) I’m writing today because we, as members of the Rainier UniServ Council, have an opportunity to join fellow WEA members in support of a pro-public education, pro-union candidate for the State Senate! Claudia Kauffman is running for State Senate in the neighboring 47th legislative district, which is primarily the Kent area. Claudia is a proven leader. Back in 2006, she was elected to serve as the first Native American woman in the state Senate. We want her back in Olympia because she proved herself to be a true champion on education issues. Can you support this critical race by doorbelling with our Kent colleagues on Saturday, October 22, from 1-3? RSVP here.
We’ll meet Claudia at the Kent Education Association office (10427 SE 244th St., Kent), learn what to say at the doors, have some treats, get a t-shirt, and call it a successful day for public education! Some might ask, “Why should I doorbell in Kent for a candidate I don’t know?” Great question, let me tell you! We have a slim pro-education majority in the State Senate. Electing Claudia Kauffman will help us retain that margin and help us pass good legislation and defeat bad legislation in the upcoming sessions. With so much at stake, we need every education supporter we can get into the Senate. Will you join me? If you sign up, you’ll receive a reminder message with the date, time, and location. Thank you for considering. In Solidarity, Jen Ben Renton Professional Technical Association Union President WEA-Rainier UniServ Council President
P.S. Your Rainier UniServ Directors, Elizabeth Beck and Alan Sutliff will also be in attendance. See you 10/22 in Kent! |
